Determined Postecoglou looks to sign ’43-goal bomber’

Tottenham have joined the race to sign Victor Yokerez (26-Sporting). With several Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, Liverpool, and Chelsea, interested in the player, Spurs have joined the chase. Yokerez’s contract includes a release clause worth £86 million ($153.3 million).

As Football Insider reported on July 27, “Tottenham and Liverpool have been linked with a move for Yokerez. Arsenal are expected to face competition as the two clubs join the race for the player. Chelsea are also fans of Yokers, but £86 million is an expensive transfer fee for any Premier League club.”

Tottenham, who are in need of a strong frontman, have crystallized their interest in Yokers. Tottenham have signaled their intention to bring in a new striker by listing Thierry Henry, 27, for sale. Last season, the Frenchman scored 11 goals in the Premier League, but was criticized for his frequent injuries and inconsistent performances.

While Spurs are in talks with Saudi Arabian clubs to sell him, they are also pursuing Jokers in the meantime. The Sweden international is a frontline striker who combines strength and pace with excellent decision-making, especially in front of goal, and helped Sporting win the Portuguese Primeira Liga title last season.

Last season, Yokerez scored 43 goals in 50 official appearances. He also impressed with his ability to create chances and link-up play, as he added 14 assists. He racked up 57 offensive points last season alone, the most of any player in 안전한 파워볼사이트 Europe’s top seven leagues, surpassing Harry Kane (31-Bayern Munich) and Kylian Mbappe (25-Real Madrid).

However, Tottenham will have to face stiff competition if they want to land Jokeres. UEFA Champions League (UCL) qualifiers Arsenal and Liverpool are in the hunt, and Chelsea, with their deep pockets, are also on the lookout. It has been suggested that Arsenal, who are in particular in need of a goalie, will use the money from the sale of non-performing resources to sign Yokerez.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have also been linked with Jonathan David (24-LOSC Lille) as a possible striker in addition to Yokerez. Earlier, LOSC Lille president Olivier Letang (51-France) revealed that Lenny Yoro (18-Manchester United) and David will leave the club this summer. Indeed, Yoro has finalized a move to Manchester United amid speculation of a big club move. David is expected to do the same.

Other second-choice options Pedro Neto (24-Wolverhampton), Eberechi Eze (26-Crystal Palace), Federico Chiesa (26-Juventus), and Jacob Ramsey (23-Aston Villa) have also been linked to Spurs by various outlets. In the midst of a busy transfer window, Spurs are currently in Asia for preseason and will play friendlies against Team K League and Bayern Munich in South Korea.
