Suwon’s come-from-behind victory, promotion spark not yet extinguished
Suwon Samsung has revived its hopes of escaping the K League Two.
Suwon, led by Byun Sung-hwan, came from behind to win 2-1 at home against Ansan Greeners in the 38th round of the Hana Bank K League 2 2024 at Yongin Mir Stadium in Gyeonggi Province on Wednesday.
With the win, Suwon concluded its regular season schedule with 15 wins, 11 draws and 10 losses (56 points) in the 2024 K League 2. From here on out, 스포츠토토사이트 we’ll have to wait with bated breath to see how the other teams fare.
The K League 2 winner will be automatically promoted to the K League 1, while the second-place team will play a relegation playoff against the 11th-place team in the K League 1.
The third through fifth-place teams will then go through a semi-playoff and playoff stage, with the eventual winner playing the 10th-place team in the K League 1 in a relegation playoff.
Sitting in fourth place, Suwon will now have to wait for the results of matches against fifth-place Jeonnam (54 points) and sixth-place Busan (53 points).
First, fifth-place Jeonnam needs to win its final match against Seoul Eland to leapfrog Suwon into fourth place. Busan can also keep Suwon at the bottom of the table if they win their final game against Bucheon FC. Therefore, if Jeonnam and Busan win their final matches together, Suwon’s promotion hopes will be pushed back to next season.
