The Kia Tigers have taken a 10-run lead over the LG Twins to consolidate their lead in the standings.

The Tigers rode a big batting outburst to a 14-4 victory over LG in the 2024 Shinhan Solar Bank KBO League at Jamsil Stadium on Sunday.

The three-game series between the No. 1 and No. 2 teams has been billed as a “preview of the Korean Series,” and Kia has now won three straight games, securing its second straight victory. With 67 wins, two ties and 46 losses, Kia has widened the gap between itself and the second-place team.

With LG Electronics’ six-game winning streak, Kia continued its strong performance, improving its season record to 11-3.

LG (60 wins, 2 draws and 51 losses), which had hoped to overtake the lead in the three-game series, fell further behind.

The Kia bats pounded the LG mound for 16 hits, including three home runs.

Kim Do-young hit his second career grand slam in the sixth inning to cap off the big win. Kim, who became the youngest player to hit 30 home runs and 30 RBIs in a game on April 15, capped off his 31st home run of the season with a grand slam.

Back-to-back singles by Park Chan-ho and Lee Chang-jin loaded the bases, and Kim Do-young, who stepped to the plate next, hit a grand slam over the center field wall to give KIA a 10-1 lead.

Socrates’ back-to-back home runs (23rd of the season) gave KIA a 10-run lead.

In the top of the eighth inning, with the bases loaded after singles by Lee Chang-jin and Socrates and a walk by Park Jung-woo, Kim Sun-bin hit a two-run double to right-center field to extend the lead to 14-2.

LG could only manage one run in the bottom of the eighth and ninth innings.
