‘Faker’ looks at ‘Kumayushi’…”I want to be a player who can reach such a position”
T1’s Lee “KumaYushi” Min-hyung had a special feeling when he saw Hall of Famer Lee “Faker” Sang-hyuk.
T1 defeated Nongshim RedForce 2-0 in the first match of the LoL Champions Korea (LCK) Summer 2024 at Roll Park in Jongno-gu, Seoul at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. T1 started the Summer off with a bang.
Lee Min-hyung picked up the reigning state champion Sena in Game 1 and had a strong performance with one kill, one death and six assists. In Game 2, Lee also picked Sena and led his team to victory with two kills, no deaths and 17 assists. With the back-to-back wins, Lee’s career Sena win percentage in the LCK is now 95 percent (19-1).
Speaking to Cookie News after the match, Lee Min-hyung said, “My next match is against Zenji eSports, so I was hoping for a better performance. I’m a little disappointed,” he said, adding, “It wasn’t fun to play two games against Sena.”
T1 took the lead midway through the second set with a sharp baron burst. Lee Min-hyung said, “It was two hard hits. I thought it would be an advantage,” he recalled, adding, “I lost a turn because I couldn’t see the Athrox tell position, but then I saw the Athrox position and continued the bashing fight.”
Lee Min-hyung chose ‘Agile Footwork’ as his rune for Game 1. In Game 2, he chose Preemptive Strike. “Both are good,” he said, “but it’s a matter of preference. It depends on your preference,” he said, adding that “Preemptive Attack requires better Q-skills in lane.” When asked about his Sena win rate, Lee laughed, saying, “When I get Sena, I feel confident in my kiting 사설토토 and movement. Commenting on the Summer Bottom meta, Lee Min-hyung said, “It hasn’t changed much except that Wondil Ash has moved up a tier. “At the time of the patch, I thought it was fine to have a carry champion, but when I played it, I realized that mid-jungle carries are better. The bottom doesn’t need to carry, so it’s more of a support role.”
For off-season practice, Lee said, “I tried to understand the meta in solo ranked, and I studied new templates. I tried to get a feel for it,” he said of team practice, adding, “I’m not sure, but we’re getting a good idea of the tier organization. There’s another patch after Genji, so there will be some changes.”
On June 6, Lee “Faker” Min-hyung attended the Hall of Fame event for Lee “Faker” Sang-hyuk. “I want to become a professional gamer who can reach such a position,” he said. “There were many things for fans to enjoy and see. I hope they enjoyed it,” he said.
“I don’t care about winning or losing in the regular season. However, I have memories of losing to Genji. This time, I want to end the losing streak.” He added, “They play well. They are a team you can beat if you prepare well.” As for his final goal for the summer, he said, “I want to play consistently without ups and downs. I want to win the championship in the end.”
