LG and Doosan Welcome the Idea of a Replacement Stadium
Expanded from 10,000 people… Expanded to 30,000 seats for major games and postseason.
Professional baseball teams LG Twins and Doosan Bears, who use Jamsil Stadium as their home stadium, expressed their welcome on the 9th when Seoul City confirmed the alternative stadium.
The two teams were particularly pleased that Seoul City had increased the capacity of the alternative stadium to Jamsil Main Stadium to over 18,000 seats.
LG and Doosan are two families living under one roof, sharing Jamsil Stadium, which currently has a maximum capacity of 23,750 people. 슬롯사이트
In the first half of this year, LG drew an average of 18,604 spectators per game, and Doosan drew 17,449 spectators.
Since ticket sales are directly related to profits, the two teams can take a breather from their operations if their alternative stadium can accommodate the same number of spectators per game this year.
As the Seoul Metropolitan Government announced its plan to build a new dome stadium on the site of Jamsil Baseball Stadium as part of the ‘Jamsil Sports·MICE Complex Development Project,’ LG and Doosan teams will play at a replacement stadium that will be built at Jamsil Main Stadium for five years from 2027 to 2031.
The Jamsil Main Stadium soccer field and track and field track will be transformed into a professional baseball stadium in accordance with the KBO manual, and some indoor spaces will be refurbished as baseball stadium dugouts and player support spaces.
Due to spectator safety issues, the capacity of the replacement stadium was initially discussed at around 10,000 spectators in a joint meeting between the Seoul Metropolitan Government, the two teams, and the KBO Office, but was increased to over 18,000 seats by the Seoul Metropolitan Government upon request from LG and Doosan.
The city of Seoul announced that considering the distance from the ground and viewing conditions, the 18,000-seat audience will be built on the 1st and 2nd floors centered on the infield and outfield, but if the safety of the audience is confirmed through future monitoring, the 3rd floor seats will be opened for major games and the postseason, increasing the audience to over 30,000 seats.
It seems that the city of Seoul and the two clubs will conduct monitoring related to the safety of the audience seats together.
However, detailed discussions and close cooperation between the city of Seoul and the two clubs are necessary in selecting major games where the audience seats will be increased to over 30,000.
LG and Doosan expressed their gratitude for the fact that the replacement stadium was built near Jamsil Baseball Stadium, allowing them to continue to enjoy the symbolism of “Jamsil,” and for the city of Seoul listening to the opinions of the baseball community.
