SOUTH KOREA WOMEN’S SOCCER TO FACE HONG KONG IN QUARTERFINALS IN ‘NORTH-SOUTH CLASH’
The South Korean women’s soccer team, seeking its first gold medal at the Asian Games, has completed its group stage campaign at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games with a three-game sweep. Head coach Colleen Bell’s side defeated Hong Kong 5-0 in the third match of the women’s football Group E on Monday at the Wenzhou Olympic Sports Center Stadium in Zhejiang, China .After defeating Myanmar, the Philippines, and Hong Kong, South Korea will face North Korea in the quarterfinals on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. ET .South Korea is heavily favored against North Korea’s women’s national team with one win, three draws and 15 losses .The only win came in the 2005 East Asian Confederation Cup in Jeonju (1-0). They have not won since, with two draws and 10 losses. South Korea opened the scoring in the 29th minute when Moon Eun-ju (Hwacheon KSPO) headed in a cross from Moon Mi-ra (Suwon FC), and Moon made it 2-0 in the 45th minute, this time with a right-footed shot.
