The Hanwha Eagles of the Korean Baseball Organization (KBO) continued their winning streak with a hot bat.

Hanwha won its second straight game and clinched the weekend’s three-game series with an 8-5 victory over SSG Landers in the 2024 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on Sunday.

Hanwha’s starting lineup was Jonathan Peraza (designated hitter), Kim In-hwan (left fielder), Kim Tae-yeon (right fielder), Noh Si-hwan (third baseman), Chae Eun-sung (first baseman), Ahn Chi-hong (second baseman), Lee Jae-won (catcher), Lee Do-yoon (shortstop), and Lee Won-seok (center fielder). The Hanwha bats pounded out 16 hits and four home runs. Noh Si-hwan went 3-for-5 with three doubles, one home run, one RBI, and two runs scored, including his 22nd home run of the season. Peraza reached the 20-homer plateau, going 4-for-4 with two doubles, one home run, one RBI, and one run scored, while Do-Yoon Lee went 4-for-4 with his first home run of the season, one double, one home run, three RBI, and one run scored.

SSG answered right back. In the bottom of the first inning, Choi Jeong-jeong and Heredia hit back-to-back home runs to tie the game. In the top of the second inning, Hanwha had a chance to score again when Lee Do-yoon doubled, but Lee Won-seok retired him on a fly ball to right field.

Trailing 1-2 in the top of the fourth inning, Hanwha regained the lead when Ahn Chi-hong reached base on a throwing error by the third baseman and Lee Jae-won was caught stealing second, but Lee Do-yoon hit a two-run homer to center field.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, SSG put runners on first and second with back-to-back singles by Park Ji-hwan and Oh Tae-gon. However, Choi Ji-hoon grounded out to the first baseman.

Hanwha put runners on first and second with no outs in the top of the sixth inning when Noh Si-hwan and Chae Eun-sung hit back-to-back singles. Ahn Chi-hong hit an infield single, but Lee Jae-won followed with an RBI double and Lee Do-yoon followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-2. SSG fought back in the bottom of the fifth. Heredia led off the inning with a single, and Han Yoo-seom followed with an RBI double to make it a one-run game. After a wild pitch, Park Sung-seong was caught at second base on a grounder to shortstop.

Hanwha loaded the bases in the top of the seventh when Peraza led off with a double.

Kim In-hwan walked and Kim Tae-yeon followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 6-3. However, Noh Si-hwan was then caught on a line drive to shortstop and Chae Eun-sung and Hwang Young-mook followed with back-to-back singles, but Kim Tae-yeon was tagged out at home to end the inning without further damage.

SSG threatened in the bottom of the eighth when Choo Shin-soo and Han Yu-seom drew walks. However, they were unable to capitalize on the opportunity as Park Sung-yi struck out with runners on first and second.

Hanwha got a leadoff double from Moon Hyun-bin in the top of the ninth but was stranded. However, Jang Jin-hyuk hit a solo home run and Noh Si-hwan followed with a solo shot to put the game out of reach.

SSG scored a run in the bottom of the ninth after Park Ji-hwan singled and Choi Ji-hoon hit a two-run homer, but no more runs were scored.
